Ghini's French Caffe
Butter on baguettes and patio seating, packets of sachet and Chardonnay sipping, hearty French breakfasts I don't have to make...these are a few of my favorite things. Happily, there's a cozy neighborhood cafe and bakery that offers all of them, and more--including another at the top of my list, dining with my dog.

Loews Ventana Canyon
The ultimate vacation getaway awaits at one of Tucson's premier resorts, Loews Ventana Canyon. Its prime location nestled in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains means a secluded escape with swimming pools, restaurants, golf courses, a spa, and more. ArchitectFrank Lloyd Wright was the inspiration of this hidden gem; see if you can find yours at this urban escape.
Pastiche Modern Eatery
It's not easy to be all things to all food lovers, but Pastiche Modern Eatery in midtown Tucson does it. It's a neighborhood spot that's ideal for special occasions; a place to meet business associates for lunch and good friends for a drink after dark; and a restaurant so in tune with what guests desire that it proves sophistication, friendliness, and reasonable prices aren't mutually exclusive.
Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails
After catching a show at one of downtown Tucson's many fabulous venues, Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails will serve you up some insanely delicious food and wickedly sinful drinks. Right in the heart of downtown Tucson's bustling streets, this restaurant is never too far from where you are, so think up an excuse to enjoy today.
Tavolino Ristorante Italiano
Tavolino Ristorante Italiano in the Tucson foothills would be a great fit for the Food Channel. It's a lovely restaurant, with an open kitchen and a romantic patio. Massimo Tenino, the handsome Tuscan-born chef-owner, could be filmed in front of the wood-fired oven, while his brother, who runs a winery in Piedmont, Italy, could handle the wine segments. Ratings would go through the roof--but it's even better to have the real deal in town.
Lindy's Diner on 4th
If the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom, as the poet William Blake said, the patrons of the meat-patty mecca, Lindy's Diner on 4th near The University of Arizona, are very wise indeed. But you don't have to be in college or overindulge to like this kicked-back diner. Anyone who has ever sought comfort in a plate of cheese-smothered tater tots--and who hasn't?--will find happiness here.
Big Nose Kate's Saloon
The historic watering hole in Tombstone known as Big Nose Kate's Saloon is jam-packed with entertainment and enough ambiance to transport anyone back to the unbridled days of the Old West. Big Nose Kate is most infamous for her tumultuous relationship with Doc Holliday, but her tough attitude toward working the prostitution business is really what set her apart from the women of her time. Step into the saloon today for sights--and tastes--of the past.
Saffron Indian Bistro
For a culinary tour of India, right in Oro Valley, Tucson's northwest neighbor, try Saffron Indian Bistro. This bright and airy restaurant fuses traditional North Indian food with a modern, upscale atmosphere. Some dishes diners may recognize--the Tikka Masala, for example, and tandoori chicken--others are more exotic, such as Baingan Bharta (smoked eggplant). Indulge in the spice of life at Saffron Indian Bistro.
The Parish Gastropub
Like a good parishioner, we joined the large flock of Tucsonans seeking something unique and flavorful. The Parish Gastropub transported us elsewhere...tout de suite! Music, local art, and chatter mingled with teasing, spicy, mouthwatering aromas. As we waited on a pew in Tucson, I chose to believe we were about to witness Mardi Gras live and in person. Seek and ye shall find.

Sullivan's Steakhouse
Top-quality meat and seafood don't come cheap, but when they're prepared well, they're deeply satisfying. Sullivan's Steakhouse in the Tucson foothills provides that deep culinary satisfaction, plus a dining experience to match. The restaurant's service is attentive without being intrusive, and swanky without being snooty.
Five Palms
European-style opulence meets desert chic at this cosmopolitan restaurant complex. The menu focuses on seafood classics, but the globe-trotting wine list and such dishes as the Five Palms turnover--creamy Sonoran panela cheese and spinach filling flaky phyllo dough--reflect the multiculturalism of owner Nino Aidi, who was born in Damascus, spent his youth in Paris, and opened several restaurants in Mexico before making his Foothills debut.

Ginza Sushi and Izakaya
A study in blacks, grays, and reds in the Tucson foothills, Ginza Sushi and Izakaya restaurant provides a dramatic backdrop for Chef Jun Arai, whose skillful slicing, dicing, and spicing at the sushi bar make for impressive dinner (and lunch) theater. Dining etiquette says it's okay to eat sushi with your hands, no matter how nice the restaurant. How great is that?CENTRAL
